Upon completion of Dental School, Dr. Provenzale accepted a commission in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.  During Active duty, he worked primarily in the oral surgery and endodontic clinics.  After completion of active duty, he returned to Chicago, and entered private practice in General Dentistry.  During his early years in private practice, Dr. Provenzale participated in some of the original clinical research in composite restorations (tooth-colored fillings), under the auspices of the Stickney Health Department.  In 1969, he relocated his practice to Downers Grove, Illinois, where he still practices today.

Dr. Provenzale’s commitment to excellence in the advancement of Dentistry has led to a plethora of distinctions in his field, he has lectured at many prominent dental conferences around the world, and has authored numerous journal articles on various aspects of Dentistry.  He has been instrumental in the writing and enactment of the Illinois Dental Practice Act, and is a strong advocate of patient’s rights involving dental insurance.   Through the diligence of himself and his colleagues, and their commitment to continuing dental education throughout the years, the annual Midwinter Meeting of the Chicago Dental Society is considered the premier scientific dental meeting in the world.

Among the thousands of hours of continuing dental education, Dr. Provenzale has recently concentrated on the many new advancements in the field of Implant Dentistry.

His hobbies include fishing, antique collecting.  He has four sons: Dr. Donald Jr.(Dentist), James (President/CEO Fast Forward Design), John (Attorney, private practice), Patrick (Attorney, private practice).
